About Me

I'm Katelyn Powell (previously Holm), a business owner, dog-lover, marketer, and lifelong learner.

How’d I get here?

Five years into my nonprofit career, my modest marketing salary just couldn’t keep up with downtown Houston rent. I launched Sonder Photo Co. in 2018—shooting weddings and portraits on the side to make ends meet (and save up for some serious European gallivanting).

In 2019, I met my husband Jacob on Bumble (dating apps can work!) and we honeymooned in Portugal just as the borders were closing. Covid shut down most of my photography work, and remote life made me realize I was ready for a new adventure.

So, in 2021, I pivoted to tech—driving product marketing strategy at a scrappy startup. That leap led me to my current role at Givebacks, where I lead high-value brand partnerships, develop full-funnel marketing campaigns, and turn real stories into content that performs.

When I’m not behind a screen or lens, I’m fixing up my first home in The Woodlands, expanding my ever-growing book collection, or hitting the trails with my two doggos.
